About Sasha

Sasha is classic Tortoiseshell Persian. Her long silky hair and rich golden amber colors make that abundantly clear, but she also has the personality “Torties” are known for. Their “Tortitude” makes these cats the “divas of the cat world.” While Sasha was happy to pose for us like an experienced movie star looking straight at the camera, she also has some of a movie star’s demanding personality. We rudely woke her up from her afternoon beauty rest and carted her off ( as she would say) to a new room to take photographs. She couldn’t help posing and looking regal and gorgeous. “Don’t walk that direction on the mantel walk this way,” we said, turning her around and around. She was so funny- just like an actress with a lot of temperament. “I am putting up with you, but I am not liking it, and I won’t smile!
All said, she gave us some excellent photos, but I mention this at length because her new family needs to want to be faithful servants to a diva. Flatter her ego and whisper terms of endearment, ask her permission, let her be persuaded, and she is a big love bug. She actually is a lap cat who loves attention and petting. She wants respect and just doesn’t want to be brusquely moved here and there without a cuddly word of encouragement. This means she is probably not a good cat for most children. Or for anyone with secret longings to be a diva him or herself.
A shelter manager knew I loved Persians and let me know she was at his shelter. I went to get her right away, and what a marvelous Persian beauty she turned out to be. I have no info on how she came to be at the shelter. She arrived in good shape, not matted or neglected.
I doubt it will surprise you to hear she does not like other cats. She says other cats are annoying and inferior. This beautiful girl, Sasha, is more than enough entertainment and love for any family; she must be an only cat. I don’t know how she is with dogs though, of course, I expect she would tell them their place in the world, but we have no way of knowing. She would probably do best as the only pet in an orderly home with a well-trained human staff to care for her every need. For this, she will give her great loving Persian heart.
Sasha asked me to include her request ( demand ) that her new staff keeps a goodly supply of catnip on hand in their home for her exclusive use. This is important. Besides that, she is a good eater, uses her box, and makes herself an easy companion. She even likes being brushed.
Sasha is spayed, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, microchipped, eats wet and dry food, and is litterbox perfect.
She is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interests!
