About Nemo (and Lucy)

Adopted by Grace

Nemo and Lucy MUST be adopted together. There are NO exceptions. See Lucy here.

His wife died a few years back. Then when the father of these two kitties suddenly died his death threw their stable home life into chaos. The family’s children lived across the country and could not give a home to these two. They were literally planning to stop by the shelter on the way to the airport the day we got them. Very last minute. These kitties were as you can imagine very stressed and sad.

Both theses kitties are declawed. Lucy came from a Tonkinese breeder. I am not sure where Nemo came from. They are a very bonded pair and I am so glad we have been able to keep them together. They are opposites. Lucy is the extrovert and Nemo is the shy one. Lucy is a live wire and will happily climb on you and actively entertain you. Nemo takes months before he trusts you enough to reveal himself, or he has with us. These two came through a very hard time and Nemo seems to have taken it harder. He also may have had a harder reaction to being declawed which can really take away a kitty’s confidence. The children said he has always been shy with strangers.

Bombay cats are known for being easy care cats. They are an intelligent, healthy and playful breed. Though he is shy Nemo is an easy cat. He eats well and uses his box. He is never aggressive, rather he tends to hide and watch you. He now has started to let us pet him carefully. His loving family will just need to give him space til he feels ready to be affectionate. He may make the transition to his new home more easily this next time than he did when he came to us from his disrupted home. Poor little guy. Can you give him the time to unfold and then blossom around you? Meanwhile Lucy will run around entertaining you. Tonkinese kitties are active, social, loving lap cats and retain their kitten behaviors all through their life. They are known to be “door greeters” and welcome strangers in ( yaaay more playmates) . Tonkinese like to have other cats around. They get lonely and bored without the companionship of humans and other animals. Lucy needs the companionship of Nemo as he does of her. Perfect.

I would suggest a fairly quiet stable home without dogs or young children. I don’t know how they are with dogs and being both declawed they may be frightened by them. Lucy will delight you while you wait for beautiful Nemo to come to trust you. Some family will be so lucky to have this unusual pair of kitties.

Nemo eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.

Nemo is neutered, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, and microchipped.

He is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz.

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pet and create an ideal forever home.

If you believe you are the perfect adopter for Nemo (and Lucy) please tell us why in the comments section of our Adoption Application, and contact Harriet at harrietluvskitties@yahoo.com If you are unable to reach Harriet please email us at info@purebredsplus.org.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interests!
