About Finnegan
Born ~2014, M, Declawed Red Tabby Maine Coon
Well, no one expects to find a declawed kitty wandering around outside, homeless. Finnegan certainly didn’t expect to find himself left homeless outside either. I am sure someone put him out when he or she moved. So many posters were put up by kind people in his neighborhood trying to find his home he would not have been found otherwise. Poor Finnegan was really terrified by this and he stayed very stressed out in the shelter since he was surrounded by cats. It is telling that his paperwork has the word feral on it- later crossed out. As is typical of most declawed cats, he does not like other kitties at all. In foster with us, we put him in a peaceful room isolated from kitties. He relaxed and showed us very quickly that he was what he looked like -a big sweetheart.
And he is BIG. He has the long body of a Maine Coon and is about 15 pounds. His coat is a deep saturated red set off by unusually green eyes. He is a magnificent guy. Surprisingly he has “bunny fur.” Do you know what that is? It is a coat that is super soft and silky. It doesn’t look it but then you run a hand down his back and say “Oh My God! Feel how soft he is!” He is a very special kitty.
Finnegan likes people and loves attention from them. He wants to be petted and fussed with. Treats are always welcome. He does not like being picked up and carried around maybe because he doesn’t know us well enough. He wants to lie next to you and will sometimes get on a lap for a nap. But he is still a bit cautious. I would say he has been recovering very quickly- much quicker than I expected – but a safe world in a loving home where he is the only pet and there are no unpredictable young children will be great for him. Red Maine Coons have a loyal following because when mature they are such mellow, gentle quirky couch potatoes. I tend to think they are the Golden Retrievers of the cat world.
Some family will be so lucky to have his companionship and his soft warm body to cuddle with.
Finnegan eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.
Finnegan is neutered, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, and microchipped.
He is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz.
Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pets and create an ideal forever home.
If you believe you are the perfect adopter for Finnegan please tell us why in the comments section of our Adoption Application, and contact Harriet at harrietluvskitties@yahoo.com If you are unable to reach Harriet please email us at info@purebredsplus.org.
NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interests!
