About Charmers
Born ~12/2019, M, Sealpoint Siamese
When this young Siamese first got to rescue he was semi-feral, hissing and climbing the walls in fear. He was placed in a Cat Adaptation and Gentling Environment while his foster mother worked on behavioral shaping to help him overcome his fear. Over a period of 2 months he has turned into an adorable little companion.
Charmers got his name both because of his blossoming personality and the way he talks to himself and other cats. He has the cutest little voice that goes “mmmeeerp – chirp; mmmeerrp-chirp.” He also has charming traits that show his intelligence such as tipping his head to one side when he’s trying to figure out something new. His journey is not over and we are looking for a cat whisperer who will patiently allow him time to settle into a permanent home and continue to actively work on his socialization.
Recently, Charmers earned free roam privileges in the house. After spending the first 24 hours doing a Schrödinger’s cat imitation, he quickly gained confidence and began seeking out human attention. He likes to stay within sight of his humans and will often come up to the couch to solicit play and pets. He likes to spend the evening on the bed while his foster parents watch TV. There, he engages in playtime with a feather toy and solicits more petting. At night he sleeps either at the foot of the bed or on top of his foster dad’s legs. He is still a bit skittish when approached on foot and tends to run a couple of feet ahead of the human so that he stays in the thick of the action. He is likely to be frightened by small children who might be too fast-moving and loud for him.
Charmers has a special feather toy that was used to help him feel comfortable with human touch. His foster mom still uses it for times when he’s feeling a little insecure and needs help moving closer to a human. He gets to take the feather toy with him to his new home. He is a lazy player and likes to lie on his back and bat at the feather toy. He loves other cats and would be especially thrilled if he could go home with one or both of his siblings.
As of the time of this posting, Charmers cannot yet be picked up but we are working on getting him used to changes in the way he is touched and held. His foster mom can grab onto his tail and gently pull it, massage his back feet, and often touch his tummy without him thinking it’s playtime. Charmers makes progress daily and we expect him to do so in his new home as well.
Charmers is neutered, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, microchipped, eats wet and dry food, and is litterbox perfect.
He currently lives with his foster family in Vacaville.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interests!
