About Butterscotch
Adopted by Ginger Lucas and Mathias
This soft, sweet boy was neutered young and given to a little girl who adored him. Then everything in his world fell apart. The girl’s grandmother who lived with them became very ill, the little girl showed signs of having a cat allergy, and ringworm, which must have been on him for weeks, suddenly was visible on him. He was left at a shelter. Butterscotch had so many ringworm bare spots that I think rescuers turned away from him despite his beauty. I heard about him on the very day his euthanasia was scheduled. I knew we could cure him and quickly moved to get him.
Ringworm doesn’t itch, or hurt, or maim, or kill – it is just a huge nuisance. It takes about 2.5 months to get treated and then tested to show it is gone. It is boring for the cat who has to be isolated and not loved enough all that time. Humans worry about spreading it. Poor Buttercup, we hurt with sympathy for him but we really had to isolate this spore covered boy, and we could cut no corners. He made it as easy for us as he could. He was patient, goodnatured, and loving despite his long term boredom (so hard on a kitten) and his being given oral meds and bathed in smelly stuff. He was a very good sport.
And then, magic, …….. he was all done!!! No lesions, no problems. We gave him other kittens to play with and what fun life was for him. He played and roughhoused. He explored and ran. He acted silly. He loved everything.
He is not a red (or orange ) kitten exactly he is more a softer color they call “Fawn.” His four feet are white as is his bib that is growing into a Maine Coon ruff. His tail is a plume. His big feet say he has a lot of growing still to do. (Maine Coon kitties keep growing into their third year.) Butterscotch has a kind of coat they call “Bunny fur”, it is the softest kind kitties have, like warm silk. It is a good thing he likes being petted because it is hard to stop touching him.
This little boy is all softness – soft colors, soft fur, soft loving gentle nature. He is not a macho kitten or a wild play monster. He is just a nice little guy who will grow a lot bigger. He would like a home with a non dominant happy kitten or young kitty friend. He would probably be fine with children who were gentle with him. I have no idea how he is with dogs. He needs to be treasured and protected always. Some family will be so lucky to have his beauty and company in their lives.
Butterscotch eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect
Butterscotch is neutered, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, and microchipped.
He is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz.

If you believe you are the perfect adopter for Butterscotch please tell us why in the comments section of our Adoption Application, and contact Harriet at harrietluvskitties@yahoo.com If you are unable to reach Harriet please email us at info@purebredsplus.org.
NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interests!
