The Toyger cat breed was created in the 1980s. As a relatively new breed, this makes them a rare find. The word “Toyger” is a combination of the words “toy” and “tiger,” which accurately describes the goal of developing the breed. Toygers were bred to look like small house tigers and they really do look like little Sumatran Tigers! Ana, as she is called, has a gorgeous Toyger coat that is short, but dense. Her deep richly-hued orange coat has dark tabby stripes all over her body and tiger-like circular markings on her head, Her striking hazel gold/green eyes making her a stunning cat. Weekly brushing will maintain the glistening shine of her thick, silky coat.
Toygers have long, muscular bodies, high shoulders, and round heads. Their trademark stripes aren’t the only thing they have in common with a tiger. Toygers have shorter legs than other breeds, which is a common trait of big cats. This gives them the appearance of a wild cat on the prowl as they walk around their environment.
Toyger cats may look wild and exotic, but underneath this is a sweet domestic cat disposition. This is an outgoing, friendly, very playful, and highly active, intelligent breed. Some have been trained to do tricks and walk on leashes. Ana is comfortable wearing a harness but does not like going outside, so is not leash trained. She is friendly with children, easy going, docile, and affectionate toward her owners.
So why is Ana being re-homed you may ask? Things have drastically changed since she was a wee kitten. Her owners realize that their household, which has grown to include a 4-year old, newborn, Doberman, another cat, and lizard, has become too hectic for Ana. She is less interactive with her people, staying by herself most of the time. She’s a really good girl, doesn’t scratch the furniture, prefers cardboard boxes. She loves little balls to chase, laser pointers, high places, resting on dining chairs, or your lap. She would really like a cat tree and having a clean litter box. She does not go outside.
Anastasia needs to be the Grand Duchess her name implies, residing in a quiet loving environment with no other pets, where she will be kept indoors only, and receive lots of interactive attention. She will do well with kind children ages 6 and up.
Are you ready to open your heart and home to this beautiful precious Toyger girl and make her the light of your life? Then she is s ready for you!
Standard Adoption fee of $175 applies.
Anastasia is spayed, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, eats dry food, and is litterbox perfect.
She currently lives with her owner in Elk Grove.
Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pet and create an ideal forever home.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interests!
