Twinkie’s owner says this about him:  “Twinkie was challenged in a shelter environment after being placed in a large group room with other cats.   As a volunteer,  I really felt there was still a great kitty in there, just not a cat that could thrive in a shelter environment. The only person he had ever known had surrendered him, due to a pet restriction in a new rental home.   I am sure they were all sad. We thought we would give him a try in my home to see if he would blossom.  I pretty much knew my senior cat would not be thrilled, but I thought with slow introduction and time, it might work. It is pretty clear that they each want to be an only cat.  Twinkie has made it clear that he prefers to be the ONLY cat.  (Additionally, my 13-year-old senior cat has severe Asthma which requires daily inhaler therapy and having another cat in the house is severely stressing her to the point she is not accepting her treatments with ease.)  I am thankful I saved Twinkie and he thrived immediately upon stepping out of his carrier into our home. Immediate love of everything. Just an amazing guy! Within 1-2 hours of placing him in his private Bachelor Pad at my home, there was a total transformation. Rolling on his back, purring, enjoying body rubs and nursing on his little blanket and just loving life. You could see his eyes and heart light up. Unbelievable that he went from a shutdown kitty at the shelter to a happy, thankful and loving guy.

I have no regrets in saving Twinkie and would do it again. I have so loved spoiling him as he is spoiling me in return. I am thankful everyday for having the chance to bring him into my home and watch him open up to love again.  He is now ready for the next chapter in his life with a chance to be someone’s darling,  who will love him back with the same big love he gives.

He is litter box perfect, loves wet food and also free feeds on dry food. Especially loves stretching out “long-kitty” style by your side for chin, ear and full body rubs. Enjoys playing with his string and catnip toys! He also likes watching everything outside of his Bachelor- Pad windows.

Twinkie’s front paws have been declawed so he is indoors only. He has limited vision in his right eye, described as having a small globe with a small corneal scar. It is likely that he can see light and shadows out of this eye, but it doesn’t slow him down.  His limited vision may have contributed to his inability to thrive among other cats at the shelter. I also think he was quite spoiled! Thus he needs to be in a calm home without other cats or young children.  An ideal home would be adults and quiet environment with lots of love.

His surrender form stated he occasionally “play bites”, so even when he tells me that he REALLY wants more belly rubs, I watch him carefully so that he doesn’t become over-stimulated. He has been purr-fect and very calm, even while I trim his back nails.

Twinkie Has been cleared health-wise by the VCA and the shelter. Has all his vaccines etc. and is micro-chipped.
