Yuki and his sister Kiku have quite a story to tell. These two lovely, sweet little kitties were originally purchased from a breeder by an elderly lady who passed away when they were about 2 years of age. So they ended up in a shelter where their last owner adopted both of them.
In May 2015, their owner retired from work and wanted to travel. He found this wonderful caretaker through a rescue that specializes in the Japanese Bobtail breed. Yuki and Kiku’s caretaker agreed to foster them through February 2016. Then in December 2015, he emailed the caretaker and told her he visited a woman he had been corresponding with for 3 years, they really hit it off, are planning to get married, and he will be living in Vietnam.
It is quite obvious that he is not planning on bringing the kitties to Vietnam, so an agreement has been reached that our organization will do whatever we can to find a wonderful forever home for this sweet, bonded pair of kitties.
Yuki is very sweet and also a bit shy. He has lovely blue eyes and his fur is short. Kiku is the yin to Yuki’s yang, in that she is the more outgoing of the two. She has a lovely longer coat and is also a very sweet kitty. They are both loving kitties, are only using their scratching “log” which will go with them to their new home. Their caretaker describes them as a joy to have around.
According to the Cat Fancier’s Association, the Japanese Bobtail breed is described as follows:
Full of energy, always playful, loving, endearing, and happy best describe the Japanese Bobtail’s personality. They are very people-oriented and want to be the center of family life. The will watch TV with you, help you read the newspaper or a book, and they love to help you send emails on the computer! When your front doorbell rings, they will go with you to greet your guests. If you want a cat that will interact with you and your family, then the Japanese Bobtail is the breed for you! They like to carry things in their mouths, and most enjoy a good game of fetch or soccer. Masters of the pounce, these cats love to play tag with their cat friends. They are excellent travelers and enjoy cat shows and hotel rooms. They adjust to dogs and other animals and are especially good with children. They are naturals at Feline Agility. They love to jump hurdles and leap through hoops and are speedy and proficient at this sport. They have been known to run the course in less than 10 seconds!
Their caretaker has several younger, more playful cats, so sweet little Yuki is a bit scared of all that commotion. Kiku isn’t too happy with all the youthful kitty behavior either, so she walks around and hisses and all the other kitties scurry in opposite directions.
They are both healthy. The only small issue is that Kiku has a blocked tear duct in her right eye, and it waters and stains. She is GREAT about having her sweet little face cleaned. Plus, they LOVE to be brushed! Both kitties are litterbox perfect.
All they need is to find a home that will want to keep them for the rest of their lives; a home that treasures the sweetness and unique qualities this special breed is known for.
