About Winston
WINSTON
Born ~ September 2015, Male, Seal Point Ragdoll Mix
Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is helping facilitate the adoption of this cat. We take no responsibility for the health and medical records of this cat. It is the responsibility of the owner and adopter to discuss this. Winston is not in a Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue foster home but residing with his current owners in Grass Valley (North East of Sacramento) while being placed in his new home.
Winston was rescued from a shelter. He is a sweet little guy, but tends to be skittish when there is a lot of activity in the house. His current environment includes a 1 year and a 5 year old child, another female cat and a dog. Winston is great with the adults and likes the gentle dog, but he does not seem to be comfortable with the children and the female cat.
When his current owner first brought Winston home, the female cat would hiss and growl at Winston. Now this kitty wants to be friends with Winston, but he is growling at her…go figure.
Winston had a sad experience a few months ago, which, thankfully has not negatively affected his behavior (in other words, it hasn’t made him any more skittish), but has given him a battle scar. He typically hides during the day when the children are around and the household is active. In April his owner could not find him for an entire day; she looked in all of his usual hiding spaces but he was nowhere to be found. When her husband arrived from work in the evening, she had a very uneasy feeling. She went into the garage and found Winston hidden in the husband’s truck engine.
This poor little guy had been stuck in the truck engine on the way to and from work. He suffered severe burns to his back and paws. Luckily he has healed from this ordeal but has a scar on his back from the surgeries. It is unknown if the hair will grow back completely. Because he is a Seal Point, all the fur that they shaved for surgery has grown in dark brown. She was told after a complete growth cycle it will go back to normal.
This sad event has made his current owners decide that it would be best to rehome him and find him a quiet, loving, patient, adult only home where he can start to come out of his shell. Winston is a loving boy with his current owner. When the children are in bed, he comes out for cuddles with his current mom. He is also loving with the husband, especially so when he is hungry. He would be perfectly happy to sit in someone’s lap all day.
He loves to play with laser lights and cat toys. He really likes his cardboard scratching board. He definitely has all the ragdoll traits. You can pick him up and he is floppy. He likes to roll on his back to have his tummy rubbed. He likes to sleep on the bed at night.
He eats both wet and dry and when he is hungry, he will let you know. He does have a sensitive digestive system and doesn’t seem to tolerate fish.
He uses his litter box without any issues.
