About Willoughby

Adopted By Antje & Roy

Well, this boy has been seriously shaved -his feet, his cheeks, his ear hair, his chin, the top of his head and, of course, his torso and tail.  Somebody did a very thorough job. Thank goodness his tail has a pompom on the end to show his hair length. Willoughby also still has amazingly long whiskers.

Willoughby is the nicest boy and has come out of a quite bad hoarder situation.  He was so matted he could hardly move and we can see that in his muscle weakness when he jumps. That weakness has been rapidly fading in the three weeks we  have had him. He is fine. He is such a sweet, sweet boy and I am glad for him that his painful matts are gone forever.  His fur is very silky and soft- you can see that in some of the photo’s. The court confiscated  24 cats from this owner. I have one other Maine Coon who is still very shy. I included a photo they sent me below showing him when he was under anesthesia during the shaving process. His hair is Maine Coon length despite the fact you can’t tell now.  If you look carefully you can see that Willoughby has a little ear tip on his left ear which he doubtless got when he was neutered.

Willoughby was called Little Kitty at the shelter I think in the same way Little John was named in the Robin Hood story. He does have a pound or two he could do without. But he is not too bad – he is 11 pounds. Eating was perhaps his main pleasure or his main exercise so it could have been worse. He is happy now to run about and explore. He loves humans and is very affectionate. He was previously neutered and I believe kept inside only. Without access to vets right now his age is a guess based on his teeth which are pretty good but not brand new. He has youngish energy.

Someone will be very lucky to have his loving, happy companionship. He thinks life is  is great fun. If you give him wet food he is thrilled. He wants to explore, he enjoys watching raindrops thru his skylight, what is around the next corner ? He is an active guy and is making up for lost time in his life.

He would probably be fine with gentle, respectful children. I don’t know how he is with dogs. He is friendly with cats. He is a lovely gentle cat. A grateful cat.

Willoughby eats wet and dry food very happily and is litterbox perfect.

His foster mom is Harriet  in Santa Cruz.
