About Sherlock (and Watson)
Adopted by Nancy and Family
Sherlock and Watson MUST be adopted together. There are NO exceptions. See Watson here .
Sherlock and Watson are such an entertaining pair of kitties. Maine Coons are known to be smart but they are also known for being quirky characters, comedians who are fun and funny. It can lift your heart just to see Sherlock’s goofy face, he has such an utterly deadpan look. Watson is more the Cary Grant type, suave and handsome. He tends to be the social director of the two. He is lazier with a warm, solid body that is just a joy to cuddle. He is happy to play but he is just as happy to watch Sherlock play and keep track of what you are doing. For his part Sherlock may look somewhat clueless but you will find he is quite the play monster, intent and quick, and surely he has lethal dreams about the feathers waved in front of him.
So they make a perfect pair. They are very bonded but not because they are brothers. They have lived together since they were wee little kittens and have become brothers thru circumstance rather than blood. We have no idea how both came to be all alone in their own stainless steel shelter cages . Singletons, as these little lonely and scared kittens are called, always pull at my heart. I love to put them together. Sherlock had the most outrageous hair sticking out everywhere. His baby photo is below, so cute. Watson had glorious soft fur and his face looked a bit flat making me wonder if he might be part Persian. He outgrew that stage but kept the silky fur. He is very inky black and plush.
Both kittens are very used to humans. Watson is better with strangers, “Oh good more admirers for me”. Sherlock says “Oh good someone to play feather with me.” With him it is play first, pet later. Of course he and Watson play together. Sherlock generally dominates. ( “OK Sherlock you can have it if it means so much to you!” ) But of course Watson gets his licks in. Watson is 13 pounds by the way and Sherlock a couple pounds lighter. They are big cats and still growing. Maine Coon cats keep growing until they are over three years old.
These two would enjoy an active household with children old enough to respect and play with them. Maine Coon mixes are good family cats. Of course they would be entertaining companions for human adults who had the time and energy to enjoy them. I have no idea how they would do with dogs. But with the right dog or dogs they would probably be fine. Some family will be so lucky to have the companionship of these two characters.
Sherlock and Watson eat wet and dry food and are litterbox perfect.
Watson is neutered, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, and microchipped.
He is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz.
Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pet and create an ideal forever home.
If you believe you are the perfect adopter for Watson (and Sherlock) please tell us why in the comments section of our Adoption Application, and contact Harriet at harrietluvskitties@yahoo.com If you are unable to reach Harriet please email us at info@purebredsplus.org.
NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interests!
