Twinkie was left at a shelter with his brother by the only person he had ever known due to a pet restriction in a new rental home. His outgoing brother was adopted quickly, leaving Twinkie completely abandoned. Twinkie was challenged in the shelter environment after being placed in a large group room with other cats and subsequently placed in isolation where he became depressed and withdrawn. A shelter volunteer took him to her home where he thrived! Immediately upon stepping out of his carrier he was expressing love of everything. Just an amazing guy! Within 1-2 hours of placing him in a bedroom all on his own, he was happy, enjoying being petted and nursing on his little blanket and just loving life. You could see his eyes and heart light up. Unbelievable that he went from a shutdown kitty at the shelter to a happy, thankful and loving guy. He Especially loves stretching out “long-kitty” style by your side for chin, ear and full body rubs. Enjoys playing with his string and catnip toys and also likes watching everything outside the windows.

When he was ready for the next chapter in his life he was adopted in a home with shelter /rescue cat experienced people, and two cat friendly mild mannered kitties. Twinkie was very happy in his own isolated space and eager to explore the rest of his new home. He became very frightened upon meeting the other two kitties, becoming exceedingly upset, agitated and aggressive toward them. His current caregivers say “He’s a great cat, just needs a place where he will thrive.” It is for this reason that we are seeking an adopter that will give him the loving attention he craves with no other cats or dogs in their home. Twinkie must be an ONLY cat, no exceptions. Twinkie’s front paws have been declawed so he must be indoor only. He has limited vision in his right eye, described as having a small globe with a small corneal scar from an injury as a kitten. It is likely that he can see light and shadows out of this eye, but it doesn’t slow him down. His limited vision and front paw declaw may be contributing to his inability to thrive among other cats. He occasionally “play bites”, which is common with declawed kitties, so even when he wants more belly rubs, less is better than more so he does not become over stimulated . He has been purr-fect and very calm, even while trimming his back nails. He needs to be in a home without other cats or young children. An ideal home would be adults in a quiet environment providing Twinkie with lots of love and attention.

He is litter box perfect, loves wet food and also free feeds on dry food.

Twinkie Has been cleared health-wise by the VCA and the shelter. Has all his vaccines etc. and is micro-chipped.
