Toshi was adopted from us on 11/18/18. Unfortunately, the resident cat in that home took objection to him and after trying for awhile, his new mom felt bringing him into their home was probably not the right idea. So here he is back on our site again.
This is his story:
A woman who had three young siamese kitties sold her home and planned to travel. Escrow was closing Wednesday and the cats had to go to a shelter that morning unless someone could help. Someone gave her my name and she called me Monday asking if I could take her cats. A friend and I dropped everything to drive north to get them Tuesday. These are three very nice kitties. Toshi, the gorgeous male, can go to a new home alone. The other two sisters, need to be adopted together.
Toshi is a lover. He is an emotional somewhat clingy kitty (a baby kitty). His owner told me he had been found in a trash can when very little and taken to a rescue. Maybe this is why he is such a tender, “hold me” sort of guy. She told me he had been upset all week since he knew something was up. He is all heart and sensitivity. Siamese lovers will nod and say “Yes that is a Siamese”.
Toshi is a bit thin as are all three of these cats. They were fed high quality dry food, (Origen) but not really enough of it. Perhaps this owner followed instructions on the bag, I will check, but regardless they needed more food than they got. Toshi has the biggest build. These kitties like wet food but did not receive it except for a little tuna treat once a week. They will gain weight quickly but you can see their thinness in their photos. Though they are a little food obsessed, they seem to be in excellent health otherwise. Toshi is a fairly big, long bodied kitty. He currently weighs 6 pounds 5 ounces.
This handsome boy is affectionate and loves head butts and giving kisses. He is a good-natured guy and would probably be alright with gentle non-dominant cats. I have no idea how he is with dogs. He needs a human who is around him a lot and will give him tons of attention.
He hasn’t had that. These three kitties did not have free run of their home, they spent the great majority of their lives in one small room without their human present. All three seem a bit love starved. Siamese cats need a strong loving connection with their families that includes frequent contact. If you check on Google you will read how Siamese are outgoing “social cats which rely heavily on human companionship.” ( PetMD ) They are also known for often being vocally communicative with their families. I have only heard Toshi speak in his little high voice once, during the long car ride to his foster home with me. Perhaps more is to come. These three are going through a huge transition from the isolation of their last home to the active world of their new foster home. They are settling in very nicely.
This exceptionally beautiful boy will be some lucky family’s new treasure. He will adapt and flourish in the love, attention and space his new family can give him.
Toshi eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.
His foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.
