About Susie
Adopted by Linda and Todd
Born ~2012, Female, Flame Point Himalayan
Susie and Sassy came from a shelter. They were taken there, the shelter thought, by a breeder they knew of. They were matted and in bad shape. The shelter shaved them and asked us to take them in. They were tiny – 5 pounds each; Miniatures. When they were spayed it was found that their uteruses were covered with many scars from many cesarean sections. They were such tiny kitties that when they were bred for babies they were too small to birth them so their kittens were surgically removed. At least we think that is what happened. That was a “new idea” to me and a horrible existence for the poor assembly line moms.
We’ve had them a number of months as they have recovered. Nursing litters of kittens one after another depletes the mama of nutrients for her own health. Susie has gone from a little thin thing of 5 pounds to a big girl of 9 + pounds. (Yes she could lose a pound now.) She also has a big double coat so her fur makes her look rounder than she really is. Sassy has gone from a thin 5 pounds to 7 and a half pounds. She has a “harder” coat with less of the cottony undercoat that Susie has. She therefore has to do less work to keep herself groomed and is less likely to matt up. They both need their faces washed each day. Their great huge blue eyes need to be cleaned where their tears stain the fur. They call great, round eyes like theirs “headlight eyes” for obvious reasons .These two are very good-natured about being fussed with. Susie especially likes brushing which is extra fortunate. Something in their history causes them to be scared if they are put on their backs. I can comb their tummies while they lie on their sides.
Right from the start they were very loving . And they were irresistible, drawing everyone to ooou and ahhh over them.. What wonderful, tiny cuties they are. They love attention and play, feathers and cuddles. They do not particularly like to be picked up off their four feet. They do not like the camera though it is almost impossible to not take good photos of Susie. Sassy scowls into the camera and looks cranky which she is not. She is playful and inquisitive and adventurous. Susie is more placid -comfortable in just being a great loved beauty. They are a perfect pair.
These sisters are friendly to other cats though I think they feel each other’s company is quite enough for them. They are very bonded and peaceful with each other. Whoever is lucky enough to take them home will have an extraordinary pair. I have no idea how they would do with dogs. Respectful middle school and older children would be fine also. I think they had a rough beginning in life and now it is time for them to be totally loved and pampered and safe.
These girls must go together they are very bonded. They eat wet and dry food and are litterbox perfect.
