About Sookie
Born ~ 8/26/17, F, Brown Tabby Maine Coon Mix
“Sookie” rhymes with “cookie,” and sure enough this little one is sugar, spice and everything nice in a kitten. She was surrendered to a vet clinic when she was 5 days old. At birth, her umbilical cord had been wrapped around her back leg, creating a small abscess that healed very quickly. Soon Sookie was able to be transferred to one of our foster homes, where she has blossomed into the adorable, expressive kitten you see in the photos.
Every year we get quite a few kittens so young that, in the normal course of things, they would still be nursing at their mother’s side. These become our “bottle babies” and, by virtue of the intimacy that feeding creates between the one who feeds and the one who eats, are usually among the most human-bonded of the kitties we have in rescue.
Sookie is a case in point. Her favorite pastime is to be in your lap for love and hugs. She also loves to curl around your neck and kiss your face. In fact, as soon as you come close, she begins to purr. She is such an affectionate kitten!
Sookie is very special to her foster mom and would love to have a family that gives her loads of attention, because people are her world. She also loves playing with her kitten friends and would need a household with another kitten or a playful young adult cat to bond with her.
We would consider placing Sookie in a household with a gentle, careful child. In this case, plan to bring the child along with you when you come to meet Sookie, so her foster mom can observe their interaction.
Sookie will come to you fully vetted, tested, and microchipped.
Sookie is fostered in Davis, CA

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interest!
