7 Year Old, M, Nebelung Mix
Smokey, an elegant, fluffy and soft as a cloud, gray cat, is looking for a home with a sunny window ledge from which to view the world. He has lived exclusively indoors his entire life, and, for his health and safety, he should continue to do so. His fur has varying shades of grey from silvery to slate and his ear tips are tufted. If you are looking for a dignified and quite boy kitty who will show how loving he is once he feels safe in your home, please consider giving this sweetheart a permanent home.
Smokey looks a lot like a Nebelung Mix, which according to Wikipedia, the Nebelung is a rare breed of domestic cat. Nebelungs have long bodies, wide-set green eyes, long and dense fur, and mild dispositions. The name Nebelung — apparently a portmanteau of the German word Nebel (‘mist’ or ‘fog’), and the name of a medieval Germanic saga, Nibelungenlied — is perhaps derived from the cat’s distinctive silky blue-grey coat and from the breed’s progenitors, who were named after the two major figures in the Nibelungenlied, the German warrior Siegfried and the Icelandic queen Brunhilde.
This sweet boy will do well in a calm home with adults of any age or a family with older grade school-aged children who will approach him quietly and handle him respectfully. His lovely coat will require regular grooming sessions to keep it tangle-free. Fortunately for both of you, he enjoys and appreciates this kind of attention.
Smokey’s former guardian reports that he is shy, at first, and a little wary of young children. He may need a little extra time getting settled in, but, once he does, he’ll be happy to join you on the couch for pets and cuddles.
Your patience now will be amply rewarded with his love and devotion for many years to come!
