Born ~2014, M, Black & White Turkish Van.
This black and white boy is big, 14 plus pounds and he is not overweight. He has long legs, a long body and a very big personality. He is affectionate. He is also a goofball who will roll around offering his tummy for petting. He is a lot of cat but also a big baby.
A Turkish Van must have very specific markings. He must have the same color on the head and tail and one or at most two spots of that same color on his solid white back or flank. You will see in the photo’s that is just what this boy has. His fur is thick and silky, and his paws are extra large. Yes, his nose really is super pink. His left eye must have experienced a little trauma in the past perhaps from the herpes virus or something that scratched. We know this because his third eyelid is slightly showing at the inner corner of his eye. It can take months for the third eyelid to retract fully after something happens to the eye. I think he just needs more time to pass, there is no drainage, need to clean or to medicate his eye.
Simon, Skylark and a third cat the Bengal, Romeo Magnificat, were being kept in an inappropriate and unpleasant place when they were found and taken to the shelter. I went to the shelter to get them. Simon arrived with reason to be upset and unsettled, his life had not been flowing smoothly. We found, however, that he is a good natured, affectionate guy. His adorable Cover Photo ( his first photo ) was taken just after he had just been brought from the shelter and he does look at bit disgruntled there. He looks like he is muttering under his breath. I included at the end of his bio the picture I took when I went to get him at the shelter. “Get me out of here” he said.
Simon is a big armful of fun and loves lots of humans attention. He sleeps with Skylark and they seem nicely companionable. Occasionally Simon is a dummy and gets on Skylarks nerves. Being a superior Highlander girl, though significantly smaller than him, she will then put him in his place. Thoroughly. He is fine with it. In Skylark’s bio I tell the story of how Simon really has a grievance with the third kitty in this unusual trio, the Bengal, Romeo, who has been adopted. I was quite respectful of Simon’s deep rumbling growl whenever he saw Romeo.
Skylark and Simon are bonded and must go home together. As to their new home I would suggest that their new family have no young very children. I don’t know how these kitties are with dogs though I would expect both would be dominant. It would probably be best if they were the only cats in the family but I also would be willing to consider a family with appropriate cats. Most important is that their adopters enjoy spending time daily with these two kitties and will create the deep bond these two are looking for with their humans. These are not sleep on the couch Persians. These are extra active, very intelligent kitties who will be very present and entertaining in their home.
Simon eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.
