About Simba

Born ~2006, Male, Tripod, Red/White Tabby DSH

November Update: Tiger and Simba are such wonderful kitties .They really want to help you do your chores around the house. Simba lay all over the carpet we were trying to put down making the whole process great fun rather than work. He was insistent and so happy and goofy. Lounging, rolling side to side. Tiger was excited by a pile of boxes and other stuff on the floor he had mess with all of it. Running for my camera I missed the best photos of him climbing in all the boxes, making us laugh. Then he stood on his hind legs sweetly asking for pets. Tiger loves catnip and is tireless in searching it out.

These two kitty housemates are very interactive cats. They want to be closely involved with their humans, making eye and body contact. They are perfect family cats. Everyone just loves them. They are ready to go to their new home and take up their jobs again of entertaining and loving and comforting their humans. Some family will be so lucky to have their company. These gentle well behaved cats would also be great with gentle children.

Original Post: This boy, Simba, was brought to a shelter with his kitty companion, Tiger. It is one of the frustrations of being in rescue that we will never know the story that brought them here. We also don’t know how Simba lost his hind leg. What happened? Whatever it was, Simba seems to have adapted well and is fine with his three legs.

I am always singing the praises of the red, or red and white boys. Simba again is an example of how loving they are; they are the sweetest cats. Simba just wants you to pet him. If you put out your hand he will put his head into it and stare into your eyes and just leave it there. “Hold me and love me”, he says. He also likes to roll around and show his super-soft fluffy tummy.

And, of course, he loves to eat. We feed Tiger on a higher level so Simba cannot eat his food. Actually we would like Simba to lose some weight, a couple pounds. I think it would help his mobility. He walks easily – hops with his hind leg as tripod kitties do. But then he sits down. A little less weight would help him. Simba is in perfect health otherwise. He always uses his litterbox and seems entirely comfortable with his three-legged status. We have fostered a number of tripods and they all do surprisingly well.

Simba and Tiger, the Scottish Fold, have lost their home and their family but they will not lose each other. They MUST go home together.

I have a feeling these two were family cats named by children. I think they would be good again with children maybe five years old and up. Since Simba is a tripod kitty I would not suggest they be adopted by a family with a dog unless it was a seriously gentle, unthreatening dog. These two cats are well trained to be inside only house cats who offer companionship and entertainment for their humans. An adult only family would be fine also. They may be alright with a home with a gentle kitty. I just don’t want anyone two footed or four footed chasing or scaring Simba.

Simba (very happily) eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.

His foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.

Contact Harriet at (831) 336-2983 or email toharrietjane@comcast.net if you have questions. Or send an Adoption Application. If you are unable to reach Harriet by phone or email, email us at Info@purebredsplus.org

Note: While Simba is not a Scottish Fold, he is on the Scottish Fold page because he and Tiger, his Scottish Fold pal, are a bonded pair and MUST be adopted together.
