About Simba

Born ~ 2015, Male, Brown Spotted Bengal

Adopted by Jeff and Melissa

This little teenage Bengal boy came to us from a shelter. They contacted us and said “Can you take him?” YES!! we said. They found a volunteer to deliver him. How wonderful to have such an exquisite boy brought right to your doorstep. What could be more fun?

His shelter photograph, shown below (bottom image), does not show much of him. When we got to see him he was more beautiful than we could have imagined. I particularly like how his lower body has darker spots and banding shading to lighter brown near the top. He is a walking work of art. And he is still growing – just look at the size of his huge perfect paws.

Simba also has a great personality. He is good-natured, easy-going and affectionate when he has the time. Mostly, as you would expect, he is full of nonstop activity. He wants to play with every single thing he finds in his world. Yes, the world is his toy. (That includes you.)

Like a teenager, Simba needs time to grow up and settle, solidify his confidence and learn what is proper behavior. His new family needs to understand they will be teaching him. He seems curious about other cats but so far we have not yet put him together with them (He has been, for two weeks, in post shelter mandatory isolation). An older cat could also be a good mentor for him. Bengals play very hard, wrestling together and they do best with other muscles-of-steel exotics; Egyptian Maus, Savannahs etc.

The other issue with Bengals is you must set up your home to be able successfully to keep them inside. They are very smart cats and can often open doorknobs. They can jump and climb in ways you might not expect. If they get out they travel far from their home and they are more likely than other breeds to never be seen again. Having a Bengal is a lifestyle choice and takes a family’s commitment to their kitty’s safety and entertainment. Living with these beautiful, super intelligent cats is a great joy for the right family.

Simba eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.
