About Silver
Adopted by Ginger & Richard
~Born 12/1/2016, M, Seal-Point Ocicat
Hey! Where are his spots?? How can an Ocicat not have spots? Well, genetically Ocicats are a mix of domestic cats bred to look like Ocelots. They are bred from Siamese, Abyssinians and American Shorthairs and first were seen in cat shows in 1986. Occasionally, through the magic of genetics, a kitten is born that shows more of one side of this genetic ancestry. That would be Silver with the Siamese side. We know his parents. He is the brother of Chocolate and Cinnamon Spot. You can really see the resemblance in the shape of his body, head and ears.
Silver is a gorgeous boy. He is currently bigger than his brothers and and very sleek and agile. He may develop spots–they sometimes show up later–but at this point when we look at him in the light, we do not see them. His fur is silky soft and very plush. With his icy blue eyes and seal point coloring and creamy fur, he is a striking boy. He is a joy to watch.
Ocicats are athletic, muscular, medium-sized cats. These kitties generally need the company of other cats to be happy though they say sometimes the right dog can be a good companion for them. They do not do well as only pets. They are social, fun loving , intelligent, active kitties. They generally like strangers and make good family cats. And yes, they are great jumpers and love high places.
Silver is a happy, healthy boy. He is an explorer. The world and the people in it are his toys. He eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.
His foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interest!
