About Sasha

Adopted by Nancy & Douglas

5 Year-Old, F, Seal Point Ragdoll

Cat lovers want the best for their kitties. Some who work long hours each day worry that if they get an affectionate cat he or she will be bored and unhappy all day without them. Beautiful Sasha seems like the right cat for those folks who come home in the evening wanting to cuddle with their kitty after a hard day at work. Sasha is looking for a peaceful, quiet home. She sleeps all day and likes to be alone. In the evening she is animated and very affectionate. When she knows you and relaxes with you she loves to be petted.

I found Sasha in a shelter where her family left her when they moved. She was too shy to be put up for adoption. I was there to meet another cat and saw her in the cage next door. It was so fortunate I was there. I immediately said ”Look, I will take her also.” I knew she had no chance in the shelter since she was terrified. I also know Ragdolls ( I have been a Ragfoll foster for 9 years) and I know they do not take change at all well, often getting extremely depressed when abandoned. In our foster home we gave her a teepee style house which she loved, and we gave her quiet and gentle petting. She ate well for us and used her box. We have given her time to adapt and she has settled in very nicely. However she varies her response to humans depending on how well she knows them – she either looks wary or scared or loving and friendly. She does not like my camera and these photo’s were mostly taken by a different loved human’s cell phone. When she knows you she will press her head into your hand with passionate intensity and she will walk figure eights back and forth displaying herself as you pet her.

Sasha needs a quiet, peaceful, stable home. She does not do well with kids or chaos or commotion. I do not know how she is with dogs. Her adopter needs to let Sasha unfold in his or her home at her own speed. She needs a patient and undemanding human. I think her early life has not been easy and her humans have not been trustworthy. When they abandoned her at the shelter they told the workers there that she was very loving but they knew she would be super scared in the shelter. They actually signed an “Euthanize Request” form. They were not worthy of her. Her new family needs to love her and love her and love her and let her relax in the new experience of their care. She will be so grateful as she gives her love and whole heart back. She is a loving, beautiful darling and will make someone a wonderful companion.

Sasha eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.

Her foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.
