About Ridley Longfellow

Adopted by Lisa

Two things, especially, distinguish this handsome boy.

One is his size. He was given the name Longfellow in honor of his long body, long legs, and, goodness, look how long his tail is! At one year old, he is still a growing boy. His Ragdoll heritage gives him his size. They are the biggest breed, and, like Maine Coons, these kitties keep getting bigger into their third year. His length will remain the same, but he will grow thicker side to side and perhaps grow longer fur to match that on his tail. We can’t tell about that. He is a slender teenager now and will become a magnificent, very large kitty when he matures, quite an armful. The cheerful light brown and dark brown patches on his back and toes ( ! ) are characteristic of his exuberant nature.

The other attribute that makes him extra special is his affectionate nature. He loves everyone. What a tolerant, gentle, easygoing guy he is! He came from a shelter, and we know nothing of his history, but someone has loved him. Of course, Ragdolls are known for being mellow, good-natured cats in general, so perhaps some of his personality is from that heritage. Ridley is just a delight. He is happy to be held, carried, and fussed with. He was miserable in his bath, but he was polite about it – despite his desire to be anywhere else in the world. He was dusty and dirty, so he has been outside. He probably has met dogs before. He gets along with other cats. This boy tends to get along with everyone.

Ridley Longfellow would be a great family cat. He is easy to care for. He would likely be fine with gentle, respectful children. He would also be a great companion for a single person or a couple who are empty nesters. Who wouldn’t enjoy his affectionate, cuddly nature? When I saw him in the shelter and heard how affectionate he was, even in that stressful environment, I thought, “Oh Yes, I can find a great home for him.”

Some family will be so lucky to have his warm, loving companionship.

NOTE: We prefer families with children to bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interests!
