About Ricky

Adopted by Robin

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is helping facilitate the adoption of this cat through our Owner Placement Program.  We take no responsibility for the health and medical records of this cat.  It is the responsibility of the owner and adopter to discuss this.

Ricky is NOT in a Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue foster home, but residing with his current owner in Lakewood, WA. Adoption fee applies. Find out more about Owner Placement Cats.

Ricky is a healthy guy with gorgeous eyes that change from green to aqua depending on the light and environment. He possesses the enchanting Bengal trait known as a “glittered” coat, a desirable trait that is caused by hollow hair shafts that refract sunlight.

Ricky has had a really “hard luck” life and needs to be loved and cared for with patience and experience. He was front paw declawed by a previous owner who abandoned him, leaving him outdoors to fend for himself. This should never happen, especially to a declawed purebred Bengal cat. He is temporarily being looked after by a neighbor who has 4 other cats and a Chihuahua. They found him with an injury and decided to take him to the humane society. Two days later he was in their backyard looking miserable and still injured. They took him to the emergency vet. He had an infected broken jaw on his bottom right side and was severely underweight from not being fed. They took care of the needed surgery, antibiotics, pain medication, and are currently fostering him in their home.

Ricky is cat friendly. He loves older children, dogs, and other cats. He does not hiss or growl at anyone or any other animals. He is very sweet and loves to cuddle at night. He is a bit timid at first with new people due to the abuse by his prior owner. So we know he responds well when treated with kindness and love. He would do much better with either one other friendly cat or as an only cat. He needs to be indoor only. Ricky does not like common litter substrate, which is not unusual for declawed cats. He has learned to use a pee pad and goes number 2 in litter if it is very soft. Bengal breeders and experienced owners find that large litter boxes with Dr. Elsey’s sand litter and Pet Pee Pads placed in an empty litter box, cleaned at least once a day, will do the trick for picky cats.

We are looking for a Bengal-experienced adopter who will continue training Ricky with appropriate “alternative” litter box methods suitable for declawed cats. We will also consider an adopter who is willing to learn how to successfully reinforce good indoor elimination habits. Once Ricky settles in a home with no other territorial cats or outdoor free-roaming cats, he should develop perfect elimination habits. He’s already showing he can do this, and we emphasize placement with no territorial housemates. Please reach out to us to learn more about how this amazing Bengal can be the light of your life!

Ricky is neutered, vaccinated, FELV tested, microchipped, and eats wet food.

He currently lives with his owner in Lakewood, Washington.

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pet and create an ideal forever home.

If you believe you are the perfect adopter for Ricky please tell us why in the comments section of our Adoption Application, and contact Pam at cheemers@gmail.com or 541-290-8408. If you are unable to reach Pam please email us at info@purebredsplus.org.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interests!
