About Remi aka Shoes
Adopted by Jenevieve, Mark and Chris
When we saw his four brilliant white feet racing across the floor we named him Shoes. Then we tried to change over to calling him the nice name, Remi, but he pretty much stayed “Shoes”.
A shelter called us about him, “Could we take him”? We said yes instantly. Not only is he beautiful but he is super affectionate. To see him is to want to touch him.
He was found outside. What had his life been? When we gave him some kitties to play with we felt he did not have past experience of that. He is good hearted and learned to love running about with them. He has a happy activity level that reflects his energy. This is not a sleepy cat. This is a cat that loves movement.
Some family clearly loved him and taught him to be super affectionate. Why didn’t they teach him to chase a feather or play with other cats? It is hard to guess what this 9 month old’s history could be. The shelter paperwork wondered if he had been “HBC” which we learned meant “Hit By Car”. His head has a very slight tilt to it. His ears show no sign of trauma or infection and he has no balance or movement issues. I rather think he was just born that way- at any rate he has no problems from it and he looks adorable with his head quizzically cocked a little.
He also has a rare eye irregularity – look carefully, you may not have noticed. A trip to the veterinary ophthalmologist taught us that the reason his pupils don’t always match is that he was born missing a tiny bit of muscle to open or close the pupil. While they look different from normal to us this does not affect him all. There is nothing to do for it, it won’t get worse or better. Maybe his eyes and head tilt show he wasn’t quite finished when he came out of the womb. He doesn’t care, he is a happy kitty that loves his life of cuddling humans and playing to the fullest. His joy in life is obvious and contagious.
Shoes needs a young at heart home. He is still learning his play manners and can wrestle a little too hard at times. He needs a confident, big cat friend or two or maybe a dog playmate would be great for him. I have never seen him with dogs. A family with older children would be fine as long as they were responsible and would keep him inside.
Maybe he will be a mellow Ragdoll when he is 8 yrs old. Right now he needs a family that wants a cat with the energy of a kitten. He is an entertainer, a lover and a triathlete. Some lucky family will have so much fun with him.
Remi aka Shoes is neutered, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, microchipped, eats wet and dry food, and is litterbox perfect.
He is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interests!
