Can you imagine having to give up a cat that you’ve had for 10 years since you adopted it as a kitten? A cat that traveled with you when you’d have to go on long trips, that was leash and harness trained so he could accompany you during your outings. A cat that slept with you every night on your pillow, and that loves to be on your lap as often as you let it. A cat that you love with all of your heart and have considered your fur baby since you first laid eyes on him?
My heart breaks for the woman who contacted our organization with the request to rehome her beloved Bengal Puddles and his bonded “brother” Rayban (a white Turkish Van). The sad reality is that her human son was born with severe cat allergies and a heart condition requiring several cardiac surgeries. With all this stress in her life, she knows she owes it to her beloved cats to find them a loving home where they can spend the rest of their lives in the bonded brotherhood they share and with (a) human(s) they can connect with.
Puddles is a typical Bengal. He is sensitive, very affectionate and loves to be held and cuddled. He loves having his tummy rubbed, up to a point. When he’s had his share of rubs, he’ll get up and leave. His “communication skills” are excellent because he’ll let you know when wants attention by giving you a gentle head butt. Because he is a mature cat, he is not getting into the kind of shenanigans that a younger Bengal will get into. These days he enjoys hanging out (i.e., playing lounge lizard) with his “brother” Rayban. He will very likely seek out one human that he will bond with very deeply.
He must be adopted with his bobtailed Turkish Van “brother” Rayban. They share a bromance that can’t be broken. It will be difficult enough for Puddles to have to find a new home. If he were to be separated from Rayban, it would be devastating for both boys.
The current owner knows that Puddles would not like to be placed with another Bengal cat. She doesn’t know if he would be okay with dogs. Typically dogs that are used to living with cats will know how and when to approach a new feline.
Puddles had a vet checkup very recently with full blood work. Records indicate that he is a healthy cat.
