Born ~2011, Female, Lilac Point Ragdoll
Precious showed up in a shelter, stressed and badly matted. The shelter chose a good name for her. They shaved her there to make her more comfortable. She was part of a UC Davis study, on kitty colds I think, and she was there for over seven weeks. She did not eat well and became very thin. We got her as soon as we could after the study was over and immediately worked on finding out what foods she would eat. She liked smelly fish. We gave her a teepee which she loved and stayed in.
She was depressed and low energy when she arrived but she still seemed pleased to receive attention. Wanting to encourage your affections she will rub you back, and put her head in your hand soliciting more. Now that she has settled into her foster home she is doing very well. She seems entirely healthy.
Precious has gained over three pounds (now 9 pounds 5 ounces) and has lost her sad look and shaved, somewhat ragged, appearance. What a beauty she is. There is something very elegant about the way she moves. I hope you can see from the photos of her walking how graceful she is. She has long legs and seems to walk on her tip toes. Her long body curves sinuously. Her unshaved tail is a marvelous plume and gives a clue to how magnificent her coat will be when it all grows out. She arches her back frequently as she rubs against your knee and raises up to push her head into your petting hand. She has the ragdoll’s intense round blue eyes.
If you are looking for a delicate, elegant friend who wants your lap, and probably, your bed, one who is so grateful for your love, she is the kitty for you. It is hard to imagine how anyone let her go into a shelter. Precious is well named. She is a treasure. She is not an alpha cat. She needs a safe, secure, solid home. Other friendly, gentle cats and teen age kids are probably fine with her. I don’t know about dogs.
She will be a wonderful companion for some lucky person.
Precious eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.
Her foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.
