About Pokey

Adopted by Linda

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is helping facilitate the adoption of this cat through our Owner Placement Program.  We take no responsibility for the health and medical records of this cat.  It is the responsibility of the owner and adopter to discuss this.

Pokey is NOT in a Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue foster home, but residing with my current owner in Three Rivers. Adoption fee applies. Find out more about Owner Placement Cats.

Hi! My name is Pokey. I am looking for a home where I can really rest easy and be myself. I am so very thankful to have been rescued and given the home I have. Before my person took me in from the fields nearby, I had to live by my wits for many, many months in a place where there are lots of predators. It was so very good to not be homeless!

Sadly, one of the males here doesn’t like me. I don’t know why? Having tried so hard for 3 years to be friendly. The other male and I do just fine. I sure wish it was that way with the other guy. I’ve had to defend myself and it causes me a lot of stress. There are two females here, and they’re afraid of me. I just want to play and they don’t like it when I chase and corner them. I never intend to hurt them, but they don’t know that. I love and need to play! I have lots of energy and love to chase strings and toy mouses.

I do love knowing what is going on outdoors. I’m allowed to be in the catio where it’s safe and I can watch all the goings on. When I’m not spending time with my person that’s where I really like to be. I do miss going out in nature sometimes and would love to be supervised so I could just do a perimeter check once in a while.

I love the company of my person. I really appreciate affection and I like being talked to. I’m not a real talker myself, like I hear a lot of Siamese are, I’m pretty quiet and I like to communicate without using my voice much. But – – I do my best to make sure my person knows what I’d like, and I am not shy about that! I love to cuddle in bed at night. I’ll often sit by my person while working at the computer. I would like to keep you company like that too!

I must admit I love to eat and need to be rationed so I don’t get too fat. The vet says I should be on an all-wet food diet. I had a urinary problem a little while back that the vet said was stress-related. I’m all better now and I’ve been very healthy otherwise. Sometimes I’ll get just a few pieces of dry food for dessert which I do look forward to. The vet commented on how handsome I was. I’m embarrassed to bring that up, I’m not boastful by nature, but I thought I’d mention it in case it helps me find my perfect home. I also know how to use my litter box!

A cat-friendly dog might be okay and I think I could adjust. I would be better as an only cat, and maybe do okay with older children more than 4 feet tall that are gentle, respectful, and kind.

My foster mom says I am neutered, vaccinated, FELV tested, microchipped, eats wet food, and is litterbox perfect. They say that’s good!

I currently live with my owner in Three Rivers.

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats (like me) with qualified adopters who will cherish me and create an ideal forever home.

If you believe you’re my perfect adopter please explain why in the comments section of my Adoption Application, and contact Pam at cheemers@gmail.com or 541-290-8408. If you are unable to reach Pam please email info@purebredsplus.org.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interests!
