About Pia
Adopted by Kaitlyn
Pia is a special girl with special needs. She came to us with a severe ear infection that did not respond to any medications. We even tried hypoallergenic food thinking it could be related to a food allergy but alas, that did not help either. We finally took her to one of our veterinarians who specializes in ears and he discovered that her left eardrum was completely missing! With no eardrum to protect her inner ear, goop built up deep inside her ear and it was pretty nasty. He was able to flush the ear, completely cleaning it out which allowed the medication to do it’s job. A re-check a couple weeks later showed much improvement and we can tell she felt so much better! Pia will need continued ear flushing/cleaning treatments 3 to 4 times a year for the rest of her life.
Ideally, we would like for Pia to stay near the area of Roseville, CA so she can continue to see her veterinarian for the flushes however we understand her best home may be out of the area so if you are interested in her, please check with your veterinarian to see if they have the special scopes, cameras and microscopes necessary to clean and treat her ear, we have discovered not all vets have this equipment.
One of the side-effects of the ear infection is an endearing little head tilt, Pia cocks her head to the left whenever she is standing, walking or running and yes she loves to run. She is a super playful kitty who isn’t slowed down one bit by her issues! She loves toys, all shapes and sizes are fun for her but little balls with bells in them are her absolute favorite.
Pia gets along well with dogs but can be quite a brat with other cats so she needs a home where she can reign supreme as the only kitty. She still loves the prescription hypoallergenic diet we tried (Royal Canin Ultamino) so we continue to indulge her with that. She does not like to be held but she loves getting pets and will rub herself all over you, she also likes to help with office work for those of you working from home now, she is quite the assistant and will keep your laptop warm.
Pia is spayed, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, microchipped, eats dry food, and is litterbox perfect.
She currently lives with her foster family in Placerville.
Purebreds Plus Cat rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pet and create an ideal forever home.
If you believe you are the perfect adopter for Pia please tell us why in the comments section of our Adoption Application, and contact Jennifer at ppcrjen@gmail.com If you are unable to reach Jennifer please email us at info@purebredsplus.org.
NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interest!
