Buying these two kittens seemed like a good idea to Olivia’s owner but it certainly didn’t work out. She bought Olivia when she was 3 months old flying her across the country. A couple months later she bought younger Phui from a different breeder. She thought it would be fun to breed them. Unfortunately because her dogs chased them in their very small home these two kittens were put in a small wire enclosure outside. I think they were cold in the winter and hot in the summer. This young woman meant well but could not arrange her life to make things work. When she moved to Colorado Purebreds was happy to take these two in to foster.

We worried about Olivia who was 11 months old and weighed under four pounds. Phui was a slightly scrawny 8 month old kitten. He grew and grew and Olivia didn’t. We saw he was eating all her food leaving her only dry food which was not her preference. We doubled their wet food so not even Phui could eat it all. Phui in the four months we have had them has, as the male, grown bigger than delicate Olivia but her perfect weight is now over six pounds.

These two are so connected together it is a delight to watch them. They sleep together, watch bugs together, do everything together. Phui is dominant but Olivia happily holds her own. Phui is hard to photograph because he comes right up onto your lap, or shoulder, butting his head into your camera. Olivia has manners and will go around behind you and wait for you to turn and pet her. These two are as affectionate and interested in you as any two cats could ever be. They are priceless treasures. Folks who know Oriental Shorthair Siamese kitties will understand.

A word about cold viruses: Many if not most kitties in the world have had a herpes cold and carry the cold virus latent in their body, just as humans do. Fewer cats but still many also carry a lesser known cold virus called the calici virus latent in them. Olivia arrived from the breeder with the calici viruses in her. She got over her cold but she probably gave it to Phui who had a sort of sneeze /cough and a runny nose when we met him. Both kitties have no traces of their calici colds now and are as healthy as can be but they probably have this cold virus latent in their bodies. It would probably be best if they were the only kitties in their home. They would be fine with children but let’s not put them with dogs.

Some family will be so very lucky to have their company.

Olivia is spayed, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, microchipped, eats wet and dry food, and is litterbox perfect.

She is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz.

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pet and create an ideal forever home.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interests!
