About Nina

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is helping facilitate the adoption of this cat. We take no responsibility for the health and medical records of this cat. It is the responsibility of the owner and adopter to discuss this. Nina is not in a Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue foster home but residing with the Marin Humane Society in Novato, CA.

11 Year Old, F, Brown Tabby Maine Coon

Nina would very much prefer spending her senior years in a loving home rather than at the humane society confined to a cage. Mind you, this is a very nice humane society as it goes, but still, don’t we all prefer having more comfortable surroundings when we still feel young and spry in mind and body?

Nina is a charming senior cat looking to be the only cat in your heart and home. She is a very regal cat with Maine Coon looks, coat and big feet, and a big magnificent fluffy tail! She has always lived safely inside, and shows no desire to go outside; a picture window will suit her just fine. She loves to be near her people or in their lap. Okay, let’s be more specific on how affectionate she is: She wants to sit on top of you, drool on you, kneed your hair and nibble your nose. In addition to being the ultimate cuddle bug, she is also a confident, curious and independent kitty girl.

One thing she is not too keen on, and that’s being brushed. So take your time, be patient, give her breaks and little kitty treats to get her acclimated to being brushed. Here is a tip: One foster mom used a small amount of coconut oil to gently finger brush her Maine Coon foster kitty’s coat because he initially didn’t care to be brushed. He was fine with that technique and she was able to get some mats out of his coat that way. Just a suggestion.

Nina is very well behaved and always uses her scratching post – never the furniture. Since she has not lived with children in the past, we don’t know how she would be with very young children. Older, cat savvy children would probably be just fine. She was surrendered because of too many other pets in the house and would love to spend the next part of her life as a single kitty in a home where she can shower her new parent(s) with love, affection and the occasional happy drool.

Nina had some general blood work and a urinalysis done at the shelter which showed that she is a healthy kitty.

Please note that Nina is not with Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue. We are courtesy posting her for the Marin Humane Society in Novato, CA.
