Moshe came into our rescue after his breeder became sick and couldn’t take care of him any longer, so she surrendered him to our organization. The Burmilla breed is a cross between the Chinchilla Persian and Burmese breed.
When his foster mom took him in, she found the little guy to be quite unsocialized and frightened. Pretty much upon entering her home, he quickly weaseled his way right into the dark corners of her closet and hid there for a while. With lots of patience and gentle persistence, she was able to get him out of the closet and into his chill-out room.
For the first three weeks, she went into his room every day to get him used to her presence. She would take various reading materials and read to him. While we are quite certain that he didn’t pay a lot of attention to the contents of the material, we do know that talking gently to your kitty will have a positive and calming effect on the little creature.
Moshe has now evolved into a sweet little boy who trusts his foster mom. He loves having his little body petted and he even seems to enjoy a little foot massage. However, he still doesn’t care to be picked up and we can’t consider him a lap cat. He may come around with sufficient time, but one never knows with a cat – it’s a cat after all.
One day, right before having to leave for work, little Moshe snuck out of his room before his foster mom could close the door. She had wanted to make sure that the introduction to her own kitties would be a supervised event. Unable to catch him before she had to leave, she hoped that by the time she returned Moshe and her resident kitties wouldn’t have engaged in any mischief. Well, wouldn’t you know, when she returned there were no signs of any fighting and it turns out that Moshe actually LOVES being around fur friends.
His foster mom feels that for him to thrive, he will need some young kitty mates that he can befriend and romp around with. This little boy has made such great strides since coming into his foster home as a very unsocialized and frightened little guy. Initially his new parents need to be prepared for him to be quite shy. He is still very shy when his foster mom’s daughters come to visit. However, he is ready for his forever home and someone will be so lucky to have such a sweet and special little boy in their home and heart.
Moshe has been neutered and is up-to-date on his vaccinations.
He eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.
