Born ~05/08/14 – M, Lynx Point Ragdoll Mix, Tripod
MJ is a beautiful lynx point Ragdoll with gorgeous clear blue eyes. He has a long body and depending on the light, it seems to have a sepia coloring on his coat.
I don’t think MJ has had the best life. This wonderful kitty found himself in a loud chaotic shelter all alone after his mom passed away. The shelter paperwork said he fell out of a window from a three-story building when he was just 6 months old!!! He completely fractured his back left leg which had to be amputated. But don’t worry, he gets around just fine and even runs from one side of the house to the other. He climbs and jumps up on his 7-foot cat tree like a champ.
Maybe he has never felt safe his whole life. When he first came into foster, he was afraid of every noise. Even turning on the kitchen water faucet terrified him. If I accidentally dropped the tv remote or if I got up quickly from the couch he would stress out. He was just a “nervous Nelly”. After a visit to my veterinarian, he is now on daily meds to manage his fear and anxiety. I just sprinkle it on his wet food and he slurps it up. And wow, what a difference. Now he is such a character! He likes to lounge on the back of the couch while I watch tv and sometimes rest his chin on my shoulder. Or he likes to help me with my ponytail. He likes to follow me around and be in same room. MJ has the sweetest meow. As you can see from his profile picture, he is a great helper with puzzles.
MJ asked me to write down his requirements:
- Must play “chasing the laser”
- provide sunny spot next to window or window perch
- cat toy with catnip to hone in his bunny-kick skills
- Chin and head scratches
- Large cardboard scratcher
MJ will continue to flourish in a quiet and stable home. MJ would do best with a family who has lots of experience with cats and knows how to read his body language and can be respectful of his needs. A zen environment with no small children please nor active teenagers. His new family would need to be patient and be willing to show MJ that the world is not out to get him. He gets along fine with the resident female kitty. He would be just fine as an only kitty.
MJ is up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped and uses his litter box perfectly. He has a simple diet of canned chicken. MJ is currently living with his foster family in Salinas. Will you be the one to show MJ that the world isn’t a scary place and let him blossom to his potential.
NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interest!
