The Persian is at the top of the popularity charts as the most popular pedigreed cat in the United States. They first came into vogue during the Victorian era. The show Persian has a round head enhanced with a thick ruff, small ears, a flat nose, big round copper eyes, a broad, short body with heavy boning atop short tree-trunk legs, and a thick, flowing plume of a tail – take a look at Mister Sabbath ! What a Stunner!

This gorgeous copper eyed 8 year old neutered boy ’s owner says this about him: “Loves to cuddle & sleep with people, extremely affectionate. Loves kisses, repetitive kisses, especially on the head and under chin. He loves to have his nose/ nose crevice rubbed, very demanding of head pets. Loves his chin and chest scratched. Mr. Sabbath fancies mice catnip toys and wands/ teasers with long fluffy tails. He will also play ball with you, really enjoys interaction during playtime.

Mister Sabbath is good with kids, I personally haven’t had him around many though. Likes to be the center of attention, especially prefers being the only pet. Not great with other cats or dogs.

He is great with car rides! doesn’t even mind the music, just falls right asleep. Fine being inside carrier, carrier door open, and even great with no carrier while riding in the car using a pet seatbelt . Even long rides, no problem. He’s definitely not your average cat.

Maintenance grooming is a must for Persians: ideally daily brushing and face washing/wiping (very watery eyes & lots of hair); sanitary grooming is also necessary with his luxurious long coat. Nails need to stay trimmed (scratches himself).

Mr. Sabbath is fine with bathing, not a big fan of the groomer’s stressful clippers and can be difficult, but loves his fur after a Lion Cut. I recently finished an incomplete grooming job on him and he was mostly calm. Doesn’t do well being manhandled, just wants to be treated like a baby, if you’re stressed – he’s stressed. Seems he prefers an outdoor setting when being groomed and a single person/ the owner, ideally to groom him. He was much more relaxed with just me, I didn’t even use the mild sedatives I got from the vet to help calm him down. Talking to him gently during this process also seemed helpful.

He was born with a protruding sternum so he can be fussy about being picked up. He will only tolerate being held like a baby for longer periods of time. Overall he just loves to be loved and wants to be touching a human as often as possible. Loves to lay on people and for sure he is a total lap cat. He should be allowed on furniture, will utilize his cat bed as well.
A lot people think I spoil him, but I’ve always just tried to tend to his needs to the best of my ability.

Mister Sabbath is litterbox trained, and definitely prefers a daily cleaned box. Never sprays but will poop in plain sight if something is “not right”.

Mister Sabbath weighs 8 lbs and eats Royal Canin ID (gastrointestinal) dry & wet food / Persian dry food, and needs his Litter box to be kept clean.
