About Maxwell
Born ~2017, M, Lynx point Siamese
Adoption Fee: $175
Chonky! Yes Maxwell is a Chonky kitty for sure. Why is it these big guys are so adorable? They reach out and grab our hearts.
A volunteer was petting Maxwell in the shelter and Max reached out and took the volunteer’s hand in his mouth. “Don’t go. Stay with me longer” he said pulling the hand back a little towards him. He was mistakenly labelled a Biter and rescues would have nothing to do with him. I saw his paperwork and learned that far from being aggressive he was imploring the volunteer to keep petting him. “Oh for heaven’s sake !” I said annoyed that being called “a Biter” almost got him killed. We got him out of the shelter literally two hours before his euthanasia.
And what a nice guy we found him to be! He showed us he loves everyone from the first day we got him. He is a classic Siamese boy. People love their Siamese kitties because they are very connected with their humans, loyal, bonded and loving.
Maxwell arrived very stressed. What had been going on in his life before the stress of being in the shelter? It is frustrating not to know the back story. We loved him up and took him to the vet to treat a bladder infection. We learned that other cats really frightened and upset him. He came into the shelter with a wound on his shoulder. Was he attacked by a cat or two ? It would make sense with how he acted. We knew that Siamese and Ragdoll cats are very emotional. Sensitive Max definitely needs to be an only cat in his new home. We don’t know how he is with dogs.
Unfortunately in his foster home there are other foster cats around. We try to give him privacy but he wants to be around us and we are around other kitties. He is much more tolerant of that than he was but he will be so happy to have his own humans.
And yes, he has been eating too much and exercising too little. He has gained weight on the weight loss food we give him. ( We dieters all know how that works!) He needs measured food. He weighs 16 pounds and, big boy that he is, should probably be 12 or 13 pounds. Running around overseeing his new home will help him.
If you are looking for a friend and companion this funny boy will fit the bill. He wants a friend and companion too. His life had not been going well when we got him. Now it is time to find the happy ending for him, his own happy family and home.
Want a wonderful temporarily chonky blue eyed boy?
Max eats limited amounts of wet and dry food and uses his litterbox.
Some family will be so lucky.
Maxwell is neutered, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, and microchipped.
He is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz.
Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pet and create an ideal forever home.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interests!
