Maxim, nicknamed Max, is a beautiful 15 lb. neutered Brown Spotted Savannah with a gorgeous patterned soft shiny coat.
Max is a typical Savannah, a fun active playful cat. During waking hours he enjoys lots of attention and loves to be with his people. He gives morning hellos, and greets his people when they come home. He uses several vocalizations for interactive conversations, including chirps, chatters, and meows. He will yowl in the morning for some personal attention when people begin waking up and then gets the morning ‘zoomies’ racing around the house happy for a new day! Max is very affectionate, likes an inviting lap to sit upon for pets and naps, back scratches, being brushed with the vacuum, he is not at all afraid of the vacuum. His favorite places to sleep are on beds, couches, the dog bed, on the floor near the fireplace, on his cat tree, he loves his cat tree, in a window, on a quiet lap, and in bed with his owners. Favorite play things include small Christmas package bows, balls to bat, chasing a laser light, and jumping and running after feather toys. He likes to run full speed down a long hallway which is really fun to watch.
Max last vet check was July 2019 and he is healthy. He is a good eater for his scheduled am and pm feedings and he enjoys his daily treats too! He will overeat if food is left out to free feed. Max has had a past incidence of calcium oxalate crystals and needed a change in cat food. His last urinalysis was normal with no crystals present after changing to Royal Canin for Bengals dry food formula which he continues to eat. Like most Savannahs he loves water, and is interested the shower and sink. Max has been trained to not jump on the counters. Max drinks plenty of water, refreshed please, at least twice a day, and he will let you know if his water dish needs fresh water. He is litter box perfect, uses one box that is cleaned twice a day, without fail.
His owners say this about him: “Max has lived with his family as an indoor only cat since he was a 12 week old kitten. He has been declawed, so we only allow him outdoors to sit in the sun on our patio closely supervised by us. He is very active and playful, never aggressive. Max loves dogs big and small, playing in water from the sink, sitting on anyone’s lap, sitting inside boxes and loves being brushed with the pet attachment on the vacuum. He gets the ‘zoomies’ in the mornings racing around the house and will join you for a shower if you let him. He is good with older children and teenagers. (Our 12 year old child has developed severe cat allergies that treatments and medicines do not relieve, we’ve tried. ) He really is the BEST cat and we are so very sad we can’t keep him.”
An ideal environment for this very special guy would be one where he will continue to be loved like one of the family. Max is used to being an integral part of a large family. He needs to be with attentive, interactive animal loving people or a family with children 8 years and older. He will likely do well with a cat friendly dog. We don’t know how he would be with a cat as he has never lived with another cat so that is an unknown. Max absolutely needs to be indoor only and never be allowed outside without 100% personal supervision (no exceptions). He does enjoy laying in the sun on a deck or patio during warm weather. Perhaps a screened patio/deck, secure catio or outdoor enclosure could be considered.
Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching Max with qualified adopters that fit the owner’s desire for the ideal forever home, and will cherish him for the beautiful, loving, interactive cat that he is.
