About Licorice

Born ~4/16, F, Ebony DSH
Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) recognizes 22 cat breeds that can come in solid black coats! We certainly don’t know the breed of little Licorice, but, in our book, she is definitely show quality. Licorice found her way into a vet clinic when someone brought her in and couldn’t keep her. Lucky Licorice got the best medical help with blood work, testing, vaccinations, fecal testing, and all the attention the staff could provide her. She was a kitten that was easy for the staff to spoil, but now she is in foster care where she can get out of a cage and enjoy life.
She is loving, good-natured, and totally spectacular with her shiny, ebony fur and beautiful gold eyes that look at you and melt your heart. Licorice is a kitty human assistant. Need that paper changed in your printer? She’s on it. You need someone to warm your lap, cuddle with you in bed, help you make dinner, fold laundry? Licorice is up for all household tasks, although maybe not running a vacuum. She loves people, dogs, other cats, and just wants to be part of the household activity and warm your heart along the way.
Black, black, black is the color of this dear cat’s hair,
Her eyes wide, with a golden stare,
Has the sleekest coat and the softest paws
And never wields her fangs or claws.

Black, black is the color of this dear cat’s hair,
When first she came into our care,
She gasped for breath! so frail and sick,
Good food and meds, though, did the trick.

As black as licorice, and as sweet,
Friendly to others with four feet,
O’er time, on all of us she’s grown
But wants a family of her own.

Black is the color of this dear cat’s hair,
Her eyes wide, with a golden stare,
Has the sleekest coat and the softest paws
And never wields her fangs or claws.

We love this cat, and well she knows
That when to her real home she goes,
Those of us who have known her here
Will miss the girl we held so dear.

Licorice is ready for her new home. She would love a feline buddy, would also be good with dogs that are gentle, and would be excellent with children. She is currently fostered in the Sacramento area.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interest!
