About Leopold (and Lewis)
Born ~2019, M, Blue Point Ragdoll
Adoption Fee: $550 for the pair
Leopold and Lewis MUST be adopted together. There are NO exceptions. See Lewis here.
Their owner was troubled. She could not take care of herself much less her cats. Lewis and Leopold were legally confiscated due to “neglect” and taken to the shelter. They were not doing well in the shelter and the manager asked if Purebreds Plus could take them in. We came for them right away.
These two are quite big cats: Lewis is 11.5 pounds and his son, Leopold, is 13.5. Their cages at the shelter may have been a little small for them especially if they were housed together as they should be since they are so bonded together. They arrived unsettled and stressed out which was no surprise since Ragdolls are particularly emotional cats and don’t take change well. They settled in more quickly than expected and are showing us what loving, affectionate cats they are. Such gorgeous treasures!
Lewis, we are told, is Leopold’s dad. If they were both the same size they would look like twins. Side by side you can see that Leopold is clearly bigger and at three years old he is likely still growing. Ragdolls hold the distinction of being the largest (heaviest) domestic cat breed. Leopold has a thick ruff framing his head and his fur is long and lush, his limbs sturdy and strong. Lewis is smaller in most ways: less ruff, shorter hair, shorter legs but he is huge in character. Where Leopold is a magnificent big boy, Lewis, by comparison, is an utterly adorable cutie… though at over 11 pounds, he is nowhere near small. Both kitties have round, round big blue eyes and the brown / grey “colorpoint” coloring that is called “Blue Point”.
Leopold was the most outgoing upon arrival. Sensitive Lewis needed a little time to catch up with the changes in his life but he has come along nicely. These two need to be greatly treasured in their new home, they need to be the center of attention. They are lazy, playful, and love attention from humans. They would probably be fine with respectful children. I don’t know how these cats are with dogs but they are friendly and curious about other cats.
Ragdolls are mild-mannered, easy-going cats. They are gentle and very sensitive in their connection to their humans. Generally large-sized they are a big, warm, armful of soft purrs. A fairly quiet, stable home with no drama or chaos is ideal for them. Lewis and Leopold want humans who can give them their time and their hearts.
Some family will be so lucky to have their company.
Leopold is neutered, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, and microchipped.
He is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz.
Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pet and create an ideal forever home.
If you believe you are the perfect adopter for Leopold (and Lewis) please tell us why in the comments section of our Adoption Application, and contact Harriet at harrietluvskitties@yahoo.com If you are unable to reach Harriet please email us at info@purebredsplus.org.
NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interests!
