About Lemon
We like to think that there is at least some good in everyone, but now and then we are reminded that people can be very cruel. Lemon was living in a community cat colony in Sacramento. When Lemon was a kitten someone had tied a shoe string around his neck, like a collar, and never bothered to remove it. As he grew it became way too tight and ultimately became embedded in his neck, causing a huge 5” x 2” open wound. This poor little guy had lost so much weight and could barely swallow or even breathe, all due to this maddening shoelace.
It took a more than a few neighbors to notice his plight, and ultimately catch him, but Lemon was brought to an emergency veterinarian in the nick of time. He was sedated and the shoe string removed from around his neck. PurebredsPlus was there for Lemon and agreed to cover the medical costs and take this, boy in.
Lemon’s wound was left open and surprisingly he made a super-fast recovery. Unlike some cats that come into rescue needing months of rehabilitation before they can trust humans, Lemon was outgoing, trusting, and loved pretty much everyone right away. He expressed his thanks to his foster mom loudly, and frequently, and became a true companion: He was anxious to be good company and make you smile with his antics.
Lemon found a home very quickly. A heartbroken adopter whose cat passed away knew she had to adopt him. With Lemon’s outgoing personality, and loving affection, the adopter’s heart is healing. The adopter finally feels she is getting back to being herself, all through the love of a cat colony kitten that was rescued from a life-threatening predicament. Clearly, they were meant to be together!
Stories like this are among the great rewards of rescue, and we never forget how many people it takes to make them possible. Whether you are a Good Samaritan, a volunteer, a past adopter, a veterinarian, or a donor, all of us at Purebreds Plus extend our deepest thanks. These precious, wonderful kitties could not survive without you.
