Born 5/20/2009, M, Brown Leopard Bengal

Jag has just started a new chapter of his life. He is nine years old and was neutered one year ago. He has the jowls of a stud cat and looks like a big tiger with spots and stripes and rosettes. He is brown with black spots and rosettes and has gold glitter all over his pelt. He is a big and strong cat. He currently weighs 17.2 pounds which is too heavy for him. He needs to eat high quality holistic cat food and raw meat so he can stay healthy and lose some weight. He should only eat very little, if any, dry food.

Jag has good self-esteem and he really likes people. He loves to be brushed and enjoys playing with fishing pole toys that have dangling feathers on them. He likes other cats but may be dominant towards them so we are unsure if we want to risk him being a bully to a resident cat. He has a lot of energy. He went into rescue because his breeder developed health issues and couldn’t keep him any longer.

Jag had an enclosure in his former house and would like to have one again. We think that a catio would be great for him. He has never roamed outside and we will not consider adopters who allow their cats to roam outside.

Our ideal home for him is a very quiet home with no small children. We are looking for adopters who have a lot of Bengal cat experience. He does not bite or scratch, but we don’t know how he would behave if a small kid would try to pick him up. He is certainly not a stuffed toy.

He loves people but needs people with patience to allow him to blossom in his new environment. His new parents need to start slowly by touching his body and gaining his trust first before they try to pick him up.

He would like a family that is home a lot and can spend a lot of time with him. He may do well with a mellow dog and he does like the cats at the shelter.

Jag is a lot of fun and likes to play. He would benefit from a cat wheel that would help him lose weight while he is having fun. He loads up into his cat carrier very easily; he walks right in and enjoys car rides.
