About Hershey

Born ~6/2016, F, Ragamuffin Mix

This is beautiful Hershey, you can tell where she got her name with a single glance her picture! She is a rich dark chocolate, female, Ragamuffin mix, with long silky fur. I have only seen one chocolate colored kitty in my rescue career and have been amazed with this girlsbeauty. She is only 2 years old, fluffy and soft and she is still atthe silly stage of her life. She wants to play with everyone and everything, meet everyone, talk with everyone, her joy of life isboundless. She loves small children, dogs and other cats. The favorite game here at her foster home is to play “Doctor” with Emma. Dr.Emma is 5 and Hershey sits on her lap when the stethoscope comes out. Emma says,”let me feel your tummy” and over goes Hershey on her back ready to be petted and kissed on her tummy. Hershey is finally getting to enjoy her life and it shows. Let me give you a little of her background and you will understand what she has gone through and what a loving and wonderful spirit she has.

Hershey was born with an unusually small nasal passage. When she was a very tiny girl she had no problem breathing or moving air into her lungs. As she grew we found that she would try and walk or play and suddenly stop, concentrate on breathing and snort like a little piglet and sit down. After many trips to the vets (and lots of what she told us was ‘yucky’ medicine) we found nothing was working. Poor Hershey was really having serious trouble breathing. So, off to the specialist she went where they performed a nasal stent procedure. This held her airways open and suddenly she could actually breathe! The hope was that once it was corrected it would stay that way, however, that was not to be. A second procedure was performed and “HURRAY” it worked ! The nasal passages have stayed open for over a month with no more problems. Many wonderful people came together to pay for all of her medications and procedures and today our little girl is running and playing and living her life as she should, with joy and happiness. Her Doctors anticipate no more problems for her, she is healthy, growing and becoming more beautiful each day.

As she grows she has become more social and loving and sees herself as part of a family. Do you need help making beds, doing laundry or checking out soft pillows or beds? Or maybe you need extra cuddles, well this gorgeous girl handles it all. She gets along with dogs, other catsand children. Someone is going to be very happy!

She eats both wet and dry food, and is litter box perfect.

For information about adopting Hershey, please contact her foster mom, Lee Kempter in Pleasant Hill, 925-934-3199, or send an Adoption Application. If you are unable to reach Lee by phone, please email us at Info@purebredsplus.org.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interest!
