About Haystack

Adopted by Siri and Thomas

Haystack is a large, handsome, and sometimes very shy boy. Once he warms up, he is a playful lover who will cuddle with you. He often retreats when startled, but picks up right where he left off once he realizes all is okay. He has plush Orange Tabby and Maine Coon Cream colored fur and very sweet greenish yellow eyes. He spent the first seven years of his life with my mom who doted over him, until she recently lost a battle with cancer. You will notice his hair is a little shorter in areas of his body, as he is growing out a lion cut from May 2020.

Haystack’s owner says this about him:

“Haystack loves to hang out in the office while I am working. He is always compelled to help me retrieve my print jobs from the printer. He is not a big fan of being picked up, but will come sit with you or in your lap if he chooses. He loves playing with interactive string toys, stalking catnip mice and chasing the laser light. He is often chatty with a soft sweet spurts of meows, almost like micro-meows. He will bellow a loud meow to get your attention or to let you know he is lonely. Over the past several months, Haystack has enjoyed napping either beside me, or at the foot of the bed, being the perfect bedmate. When I am not in bed, he likes to slumber in his cat bed. If given the chance to hang out on a window perch, he will most-likely be found looking out the window, he loves to bird watch.”

Haystack has a tendency to overstimulate when wanting more attention, but is mostly gentle and predictive when communicating he has had enough. Haystack would do best as an only cat, although he used to have a big sister who also crossed the rainbow bridge recently. He would often try to dominate his big sister, she did put up with his semantics, but a new kitty most likely would not. He is also best suited in a home without children, or dogs as he can be easily stressed out. You can consider Haystack a friendly introvert, if there is such a thing.

Although Haystack loves to stare out the window, and pretend he’s hunting birds or other critters, he must be strictly an indoor kitty, as he’s lived a very privileged and sheltered life so far, and just wants to be loved and give love back. If you are familiar with feline overstimulation and would love to play with him, give him the run of the house and attention when he seeks you out, you would make him the happiest cat in the world!

Haystack is neutered, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, microchipped, eats wet food, eats dry food, and is litterbox perfect.

He currently lives with his foster family in Fair Oaks, California .
