About Hanna
Well, this poor little kitty had her head in someone’s mouth. I have not had her long, you can still see that sharp teeth made puncture wounds in front of her ears and behind them. The shelter asked me to take her because she had a “must be out of the shelter or else date” ( a euthanasia date). When I met her she did not look good with her wounded head. She was low energy. I think she was not only traumatized by her injured head but she also probably lost her home at the same time. Perhaps they did not find her in the shelter. She was of a good body weight and clearly had had a home which took care of feeding her. Perhaps distressed by her wounds they took her to the shelter and said they found her. She is an easy kitty to medicate and work with, she is very good-natured and docile. She is a vulnerable, gentle little kitty.
The shelter did a blood panel for her which showed high white blood cell counts which signaled infection or inflammation. No surprise. They gave her a two week antibiotic shot. When that wore wore off she was still not well and we put her on a broader spectrum antibiotic. A week later another blood panel at the vet showed no improvement. Frustrated we looked in another direction and finally a third quite different antibiotic did the trick. Yaaay! She began to flourish and shine. It was like magic.
Throughout this ordeal she had been nonstop a sweet, docile, affectionate, loving girl. It was impossible not to fall in love with her. She is a small kitty about 7+ pounds. Our vet looked at her white teeth and thought she was young – “about four” she said. Of course her eyes are the blue, blue of a Siamese. Her red ears and her red tail show she is a “Flame Point.” Her creamy coat is very soft and plush. Hanna is a cuddly, soft armful. She will make someone a warm little companion.
Right now I think she is still a bit depressed and unsettled from her recent history. You can see there is some sadness still in her eyes. However, she is doing well now watching birds out her window and greeting us at the door. She will unfold and blossom in a new home where she can feel safe and loved.
I might add I would not suggest sending her home to a family with a dog no matter how gentle and cat loving. I also would suggest that her new home have only older kids, if any at all. She needs a quiet, easy home after what she had been through. I am not sure how she is with other cats. She is probably fine with friendly, non aggressive kitties. I think safety and no stress and of course lots of love are the qualities she needs in her new home. For example she would be a perfect companion for a retired person or couple.
Hanna eats wet and dry food and is litter box perfect.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interest!
