About Hallie
Adopted by David, Deborah & Sarah
Born ~9/1/18, F, Red & White Maine Coon Mix
All red, or red and white kittens tend to be males. Only rarely is a red and white kitten female. Hallie is that rare girl. Once we were convinced she was a girl we were surprised and delighted.
It is hard to predict how kittens are going to look when they mature. Hallie is still under three pounds so it is very early to make pronouncements about how she is going to turn out. She has been spayed so there is no question about her gender. Her soft fur is clearly going to be medium length like a Maine Coon. She has a pointy nose and facial shape typical of a Maine Coon- you can see that in some of the photo’s below. She has a long body, long tail, long legs. I think she is likely going to be a fairly large Maine Coon type girl. Her ears are growing tuffs. Her ruff if she has one will not grow in til she in many months older.
She is definitely going to be a gorgeous girl that much is clear.. One thing that is very unusual about her is the color of her eyes. She has copper colored eyes. Sometimes you see copper eyes on Persians. I have never seen them on any other breed. They are beautiful and of course they are set off perfectly by her very saturated red fur. Her pink little nose is a perfect counterpoint.
Hallie’s great love is playing with feathers. She likes to race about and explore but feathers really intrigue her. She is shy sometimes with humans but she is good natured about it.She will often ( but not always ) begin to wiggle if she is held too long. “Being held wastes time,” she says, “that could better be spent running about”.
Hallie came in the same day as Pigeon and they have lived together amicably but it is not essential that they stay together. Both are kitten friendly and have never met dogs.
Hallie will grow up into a sumptuous armful of soft cat. Maine Coons are great family cats and often develop quirky, comical personalities. Right now having barely outgrown a less than perfect beginning to her life, Hallie is still a bit serious. She is growing out of being a baby in a big, unsettled world. (What happened to her litter mates and her mom?) As she gains her full size and full confidence, her early months will fade away and a glorious, playful girl will blossom in her lucky adopter’s home.
Hallie eats wet and dry food and is litter box perfect.
Her foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interest!
