Well, here he is, Our Gentle Giant. And he is only 15 months old ! Currently 13 pounds, he will grow in size, as Maine Coons do, til he is about three and a half years old . We have had him for seven weeks and he has grown dramatically in this short time coming into his fabulous mature looks. You can see how very long his body is, he will lose his early slenderness and widen as he matures more. Finnegan is a “Classic Tabby”, which is the term for a cat with a bullseye on each flank and a high drama marbled pattern. His coat is thick and plush, his tail a big plume. He is a visual treasure.
In personality Finnegan is a sweetheart. He’s not a dominant cat, he is a goodnatured, gentle cat. He arrived very depressed. I texted Purebreds that I had never met a cat who was more shut down when he arrived, he was not responsive. He looked dopey and sad and I worried. He had been left at a Central Valley shelter by a man who I think was his breeder ( he was not neutered ). Finnegan did so poorly at the shelter ( he is a sensitive boy ) that they contacted Purebreds to see if we could take him. (He also didn’t fit well in their cat cages!) He recovered surprisingly quickly and we found out what a great cat he is. He has really blossomed in this short time with us growing bigger, more lush and more handsome, and more confident. He loves humans and the attention they give him. He will put a paw out to ask you to keep giving him pets or he may show you that what he wants now is to play by going to his feather wand and meeting your eyes. He is a very fun cat, communicative and interactive with his humans.
Finnegan loves to be next to you on the sofa and sometimes on your lap. He will definitely watch old movies with you late at night. He will probably help you with your chores. He likes other cats. I don’t know how he is with dogs but he would probably be fine with the right introduction. He would also be fine with children old enough to NOT try to ride on him. My guess is he will get up to about 18 pounds by age 4.
I expect I may be overwhelmed with inquiries for him. ( Who wouldn’t want him?) My apologies in advance if I cannot keep up with my answering emails.
Some family will be so lucky.
Finnegan eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.
Finnegan is neutered, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, and microchipped.
He is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interests!
