We know quite a lot of Dazzle’s story. A California breeder bought her from a Florida breeder as a baby kitten. She cost a small fortune – we have the papers. The California breeder registered her with The Cat Fancy Association. She was bred and one of her babies is her daughter, Be Dazzled aka Dulcinea aka Dulce, who is also my foster kitty. She was sold in 2014. The following year her daughter, Dulcinea, was also sold to this same man. A couple weeks ago he took his two kitties to a shelter saying he could no longer care for them. The shelter called me.
I found Dazzle to be a very friendly, sociable cat. She is a little on the plump side so she has had either too much food or too little exercise. She is already trimming down with us. Her coat is a very unusual cinnamon color. This may be why the California breeder went all the way to Florida to drive her home (the Florida breeder’s website states she will NOT ship her cats). My photos don’t do Dazzle justice. She sparkles with rich colors. She is an affectionate, good natured girl. Her daughter, Dulce, is shyer and slower to accept the recent changes in her life than her party girl mom but she has been relaxing in her time with us. These two kitties must be adopted together. No exceptions.
I don’t know if these kitties have ever been around dogs. I do expect they have been around other cats at the breeder’s home. They need a solid, stable home full of love and humans who are interested in having two very intelligent, active athletes as companions. Bengals need interesting and challenging environments; they are not sleep-on-the-couch kind of cats. Bengals will most likely go out an open door if they have the opportunity. Unlike most cats they then wander far away from their home and often do not ever get back home. Many Bengals show up in shelters. These are not good cats for families who have young children precisely because of the danger that those well meaning kids will let them get out.
I like to say that more than most cat breeds Bengals are really a life style choice. Their families enjoy the responsibility and, in some sense, the challenge of keeping these smart athletes safe and entertained indoors. Their exotic nature and their loyal companionship are a privilege and a great pleasure for the right lucky family.
Dazzle eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.
