About Darling Edna
Adopted by Leigh
Adoption Fee: $300
Darling Edna is a tiny treasure. She is a cat who loves to be on your shoulder and can easily be held there one-handed while you finish your chores. Devons are social cats, and Edna is a classic example of her breed. And the saying goes, ” You will never have an empty lap with a Devon Rex.” Edna loves cuddling with her humans.
Devons Rexes are not a well-known cat breed. Let me describe them. They are slender, muscular, large-eared cats with short whiskers. Their purr is loud. A genetic mutation ( in a cat in Devonshire, England) is responsible for their oddball fur. They have almost no fur guard hairs and instead are covered with a downy mostly wavy undercoat which appears and disappears at unexpected times. When Edna arrived, she had big bare patches, and her fur, except on her head, looked almost lime yellow-green. That disappeared, and she grew a lush short velvet coat of even dark brown, much like her head. Now she has a lighter-colored, longer, wavy coat with her head still chocolate. This girl’s appearance will keep changing. Sometimes she looks like a dust mop, and other times like a chocolate velveteen rabbit. Devon owners glory in this strangeness.
Edna’s eyes run occasionally, and a face wash may be needed for her. She is good about it. She is a good-tempered, obliging little girl. Look how patient she was modeling her Christmas outfit! She loves the sun’s warmth, and she will fall deeply asleep on the patches where the sun shines in. Skylights are appreciated.
Smart and entertaining, Devons Rexes make great family cats. They are cuddly with respectful children who treat them gently. Edna is also comfortable with other kitties who don’t try to dominate her. We don’t know how she is with dogs. Devons are not good cats for folks who are gone all day at work. These super social kitties need lots of company from their humans. They can be trained to do many tricks of various sorts.
This kitty arrived named Edna. We added the “Darling ” when we got to know her. Clearly, at the shelter where they went for her, they didn’t know what to make of her funny appearance with bare patches and slime-colored fur. They thought she must be as old as the hills. As I said, this is not a well-known breed. Our vet said, “She is 7”. Yes. It is always hard to understand how such exceptional cats end up in shelters.
Some family will be so lucky to have the companionship of this endearing little girl.
Darling Edna eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.
Darling Edna is spayed, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, and microchipped.
She is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz.
Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pets and create an ideal forever home.
If you believe you are the perfect adopter for Darling Edna, please tell us why in the comments section of our Adoption Application, and contact Harriet at harrietluvskitties@yahoo.com. If you are unable to reach Harriet, please email us at info@purebredsplus.org.
NOTE: We prefer families with children to bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interests!
