About Chester Lester
Born ~2015, M, Declawed Tuxedo Maine Coon mix
Chester Lester is a big boy, 19.6 pounds of mostly muscle. Chester’s personality is also big. He is such a character! There is something about a really big cat that makes you smile. Chester adds to that the drama of his tuxedo black and white coloring, the lightning bolt ( or squiggle ) on his chest, and his long tail that he carries curved up over his back, full of goofy exuberance. I must admit I also love white mitted kitties and the contrast of his four white feet with his inky black body is wonderful. He could brighten anyone’s day.
More so than most cats, declawed cats are mostly uncomfortable in uncertain situations or around other animals. Chester Lester was really scared when he was abandoned at a shelter. Misunderstood, we got him out just in time. He said thank you, thank you, and was instantly happy to show us his super loving side. We could also see he was still a little jumpy. I think in his last home, someone pulled his tail and mistreated him. He gets a little nervous if he is petted near his tail by someone he does not know. He has a “short fuse” meaning he goes from friendly to on guard and displeased relatively quickly. With those he has come to know and trust, he is relaxed and all love.
His new family will want to treat him gently and give him time to get to know them. I would not suggest putting him around young children with whom I am guessing he might have had an unsatisfactory history. In a loving home with respectful humans, any bad memories he might have will likely soon disappear. He is a love bug with the friends he has made in his foster home.
Chester probably has Maine Coon genes in his heritage. His big size, quirky character, and medium-length coat are all Maine Coon characteristics. Maine Coons are good family cats. They tolerate commotion and noisy chaos better than most breeds. Chester doesn’t need too quiet an environment. Maybe a home with teenage children would be fine. Or a family who is home a lot or likes to have company over. I have no idea how he is with dogs; as a declaw, he may not feel safe around them. He would prefer to be an only cat but could possibly accept a non-dominant cat’s company.
Chester Lester is a healthy boy with a good appetite. He likes all kinds of foods. Every person with a treat is his friend. Or you can give him a catnip banana and become his hero. He will roll dreamily on his treasure and be in catnip heaven.
Chester Lester is neutered, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, microchipped, eats wet and dry food, and is litterbox perfect.
He is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz.
Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pets and create an ideal forever home.
If you believe you are the perfect adopter for Chester Lester, please tell us why in the comments section of our Adoption Application, and contact Harriet at email@example.com. If you are unable to reach Harriet, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interests!
