About Beauregard (and June Bug)
Adopted by Vanessa and Dave
Beauregard and June Bug MUST be adopted together. There are NO exceptions. See June Bug here.
The ears on Scottish Fold kitties come in three main types. June Bug has the type called airplane fold in which the ears are relatively flush with the head, horizontal like the wings of an airplane. There is a medium fold where they are folded halfway down and then there is a straight eared variety like Beauregard (Bo ). Most litters contain all three types. Scottish Folds must be bred to a mate who is NOT a Fold. Two Folds bred together create a kitty who will develop debilitating arthritis later in life. The classic image of a Scottish Fold is one “off bred” to a British Blue ( Grey ) Shorthair. There maybe some of that lineage in Bug and Bo that is giving them their grey fur. Bo’s soft fur is the same grey color but it is longer and his body style is bigger than his sister’s.
We don’t know their genetic history.Their breeder brought a litter of four that included previously adopted Folds, Bubbles and Bean, to a rescue who then asked Purebreds if we could take them. Of course June Bug is an outrageous cutie. You cannot take a photo of her that is not wonderful, she loves the camera. She has a little diva personality and you would think she knows how adorable she is. She loves attention from humans. However except for her brother, Beauregard, she does not particularly like other cats. I think she is jealous of attention given to other cats. She wants it all. Bo is devoted to her and takes care of her. He is happy to let her be the boss. Extremely good natured, he loves humans and rolling around, eating and checking out the environment. He is super super sweet. ( A roady to a rock star? )
June Bug is a little kitten weighing about 5-6 pounds and not likely to get much larger. Bo has just had a huge growth spurt and now weighs almost twice that. They are such an unusual pair. These two would do best as the only kitties in a home. I don’t know how they would do with dogs. They would probably be fine with children over 8 years or so. They are healthy active, playful kittens. Bug’s ears require no special treatment other than careful cleaning. Her hearing is fine.
I have included some pictures of these two as they have grown , especially at the end there is a wonderful photo of Bo taken when she was very small, before she came to us.
Some family will certainly be lucky to have these companions. I expect many folks will be drawn to them and I ask in advance that you excuse me if I cannot keep up with all the inquiries.
Beauregard is neutered, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, microchipped, eats wet and dry food, and is litterbox perfect.
He is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz.
Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pet and create an ideal forever home.
If you believe you are the perfect adopter for Beauregard (and June Bug) please tell us why in the comments section of our Adoption Application, and contact Harriet at firstname.lastname@example.org If you are unable to reach Harriet please email us at email@example.com.
NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone’s best interests!
