3 year old, Female, White & Silver Tabby Purebred Siberian
This exquisite girl has had a rough start in life. Amelie was intended to be a breeding queen. Sadly she was given from one breeder to another at only 4 weeks of age. It is no surprise that this unkind treatment traumatized her. She was spayed and adopted out 2-3 times unsuccessfully before Amelie found a truly caring young lady who took her in and has had her for 2 years.
The only reason her current owner has asked us to find this lovely girl a new home is that she had to move into a dorm where pets aren’t allowed. Otherwise she would not give up this sweet little treasure.
Amelie is a timid little feline, slow to warm up, but with her current owner she has evolved into a little snuggle kitty. She is playful and loves fishing rod toys.
Amelie needs to be an only cat. She becomes insecure and defensive and will pick fights with cats, even if they are stronger than she is. This is not an uncommon behavior with breeder cats. Since she is so lovely, she doesn’t really need any competition from another feline anyway. She has never been around dogs, so we don’t know how she would do with a gentle dog.
Amelie is physically in excellent health. She has anxiety issues which have led to inappropriate urination in the past, but have been eliminated by putting her on Prozac which is crushed and added to her food.
Note from the adoption coordinator: Once a cat feels comfortable in its new surrounding and the inappropriate urination has been corrected, it is recommended to consult with a vet to see if a slow weaning from the medication should be considered.
Please note that Amelie is not in a Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue foster home but residing with her caretaker in San Jose, CA while being placed in her new home.
